All our love to Bill, Brent and families. Irene was such an inspiring, loving woman. Her love of life was second to none. We loved getting to visit her and always just planned to just drop by and say hello, but would be there for 4 hours listening to her stories! Her knowledge of the Strong family was incredible. We always called her the Matriarch of The Strong Clan! We miss her terribly. Hugs to everyone.

Brent and Bill, so sorry to hear about your mother. I remember being at your house when you lived around the corner from us on Thom Street and then in later years seeing your Mom at various family gatherings. I know our mother (Jeanette) always enjoyed getting together with Irene at the “Cousins Lunches”. Again, our sincerest condolences.

Heartfelt condolences to Brent and Bill and families. Irene was a very special lady whom I loved dearly. I have known her all my life having grown up on Thom Street. She had a way of making everyone feel special and always had a smile, a hug and lots of stories. Irene always made my day when she would come to the pancake house. She loved and was so proud of her family. Irene will be remembered fondly and will be missed.

As a member of RTO Gail Thomas and I had the pleasure of many visits to Irene’s home. She always shared many stories of her different experiences. My favourite was of when she taught at Haida Gwaii. One day she came home for lunch and her host had cooked fish heads. She followed his example to eat this including the eyeball. She thought if he can do this so can I. What a great lady! On our visits Irene always wanted to know what was going on in our lives. She was a great listener. We always enjoyed our visits. My condolences to her family and friends. She will definitely be missed.

This very special lady was the most senior member of the Lanark District RTO (Retired Teachers of Ontario) organization. She vigorously rang the old-fashioned school bell at our annual "To Hell With the Bell!" brunch to celebrate the first day of non-school for us.
After enjoying wonderful birthday visits with her for years, it was heart-breaking that the pandemic prevented such close contact. I shall never forget her welcoming smiles, her interesting stories, her hearty laugh, her wisdom and kindness, and her sincere hugs and cheek kisses.
She will be greatly missed by so many people, not only her family and friends in the Perth area, but also by her brother in California, and her friends in Haida Gwaii.
Thank you for being you Irene. I pray that we will meet again someday. XO

My sincere sympathy to Irene's family. She was truly one amazing lady! I really enjoyed our visits each year at our Sept 'To Hell With The Bell' Teachers Breakfast at Timber Run. Irene was one of a kind. Her conversations were always interesting with that special twinkle in her eyes. I feel fortunate to have visited Irene at her home on her birthday. May all of your precious memories help to console you as you grieve and celebrate Irene's life. Blessings

So sorry to hear this sad news. To use Irene^s words , she lived a grand life. The most incredible, inspiring , knowledgeable person I ever met with a passion for life second to none. She gave her all to her country, family, friends & neighbours. Her sense of humour was infectious & I personally learned so much from her about my Dad who also served in WWII.
