Norm was a great neighbour, friend and my boss both at the DHC and as the GWM Hospital/CEO.
He was thoughtful and above all, balanced and fair at all times. Losing Nicole was a devastating loss for him as it was for his beloved kids Ghyslaine and Daniel.
He faced his cancer diagnosis with courage but it got the best of him.
Our wish for him is to be rejoined in eternity with his beloved Nicole and maybe, just maybe, a lovely briar pipe and ever-full pouch of aromatic tobacco!
Linda and Bob Chaplin

Querido Normand-San,

When we bought a cottage on Canonto Lake in 1992, Norm and Nicole were our neighbours. On our first visit to the new property, Norm came over to welcome us and, as we talked, he noticed a beam that was buckling, a main beam holding up the roof. He excused himself and returned a few minutes later with a “ come- along” and lumber and bolts. Norm saved the roof from collapse and through-out the years, he gave us many courses in cottage first- aid, always given with good humour and unfaltering competence. Norm and Nicole became dear friends and through them, we met the whole Legault family. We learned that they share many wonderful traits- kind- heartedness, creativity, epicurean talent, a gift for enjoying life and embracing family and friends. We will miss Norm, as we have missed Nicole. We are happy that their nephew Eric and his family are now our cottage neighbours. The cottage will always be “Norm’s place” to all of us.
With deep sympathy-
Dan and Nancy Rubenstein

To Ghyslaine and Daniel we would like to offer our sincere sympathy to you and your families. Our friendship with Norm and Nicole goes back to the late 1970's when we shared social events hosted by the Sterling Investment Club .In the early 1980's I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Norm at the GWM Hospital when he was the CEO. He was instrumental in guiding and managing the hospital through the redevelopment project completed in 1994. Norm was a gentleman, an accomplished craftsman, a welcoming host and a mentor for the hospital community. His efforts have benefitted our local community. We will miss our dear friend.

Ghyslaine and Daniel,
Such sad news, heartfelt condolences to you and your families. A wonderful picture of Norm, it brings back many happy memories. It was such a pleasure to work with him, his big heart is what made the GWM such a special hospital. I suspect that life was difficult for him without the love of his life, especially in the last months. I hope that he and Nicole are together again brings some comfort.

I was very sorry to hear of Norms passing, my condolences to his family.
I have worked at the Perth hospital for many years, during the time when Norm was our CEO. I remember him as being such a nice person, easy to talk to , always listened to my concerns, would drop into our department to say hello and always knew our names. Norm was fair , friendly and well liked.

I am so sorry to lose this very long time friend. I much admired (and envied) Norm's skills in the kitchen or at the workbench which resulted in many magnificent meals and woodwork creations which gave much pleasure to others. Norm bore his last illness and other afflictions with admirable stoicism and courage. My life was appreciably enriched by Norm's friendship. I extend my condolences to Ghyslaine and Daniel and their families knowing that current restrictions make the passing of their father, father-in-law and grandfather harder to deal with.
