Obituary of Keith Ernest Erwin

Erwin, Keith Ernest

 (June 23,1944 - Jan 21, 2021)

Keith passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21st, 2021 at Perth Hospital after a short illness.  Predeceased by parents Ernest and Kathleen (nee McEwen) and brother John.  Greatly missed by sister Nancy, brother Robert and his wife Judy, niece Erica, nephew Tynan and his wife Sarah.  Keith would have enjoyed their new twin girls, Blair and Brooke. Keith was a welder-machinist, accomplished and highly regarded notably for his welding skills.  He worked in an oil field in the Arctic islands, in a gold mine near Yellowknife, in lumber camps in British Columbia, and for construction firms in the Perth-Ottawa area, especially many years with Cavanaugh Construction.  Keith was a constant reader from a young age, with an extensive knowledge of and interest in history.  He followed Formula 1 racing, news and Jeopardy and very much enjoyed feeding flocks of winter birds during his quiet life in retirement overlooking beautiful Bennett Lake.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude for the care, expertise and kindness of many ambulance people, and of so many wonderful nurses and doctors at Perth Hospital and Ottawa Civic Hospital.  We especially thank Dr Drummond and his staff in Perth and Dr Dawson in Ottawa, and Mr Stewart Blair. In remembrance of Keith, donations to the Great War Memorial Hospital Foundation, 33 Drummond St. West, Perth K7H 2K1 or the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, 737 Parkdale Ave, 1st Floor, Ottawa, K1Y 1J8 would be appreciated.

Due to Covid restrictions, the funeral service will be held privately for the family.  Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.
