Ann was the best friend my mother ever had and like a second mother to me. Almost all my childhood in Penn Street, Bucks, was filled with the warmth and welcome when I turned up to play most days with Victoria. She understood children and dogs, was so kind and tolerant of teenagers and ultimately I felt honoured to be a friend of this amazing special lady.
As Victoria told her at the end, my mother, Marcia, will have been waiting in heaven with a gin and tonic ready and a lot of laughter to share.
