I was saddened to hear from Eileen that Irene had passed away. Although I hadn’t kept in touch recently, I know that she was having health problems, but I hope she was not suffering. It has been hard for families of those in retirement residences to be have had restricted visiting over the last year due to COVID - the time when you need most to be together.
Even though I hadn’t kept in touch, I have so many memories of visiting Pike Lake especially at Thanksgiving and being made to feel like one of the family. In fact, I was reminded last week as I was clearing out my files when I came across the legal documents when I sold my cottage. And I can go back further to when my niece came to visit when she was 15 (she’s now coming up to 50) and your parents took her golfing and she was introduced to your Mom’s ritual of putting ice cubes in her coffee and which she followed for several years!
