Obituary of Marguerite Wynola Milne
Marguerite passed away in the Perth hospital on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Marguerite Wynola Milne (Shane), of Perth, in her 91st year.
Dearly loved wife and best friend of John who predeceased her in 2013. Cherished mother to David (Babette), of Whitehorse, Yukon, Cathy (Chesley), of Makkovik, Labrador, Debbie, of Perth, Trisha (Karen), of Tomerong, Australia. Caring sister to Mary (Eric) Steele, of Chesterville, Ont, Murray (Anna) Shane of Rideau Ferry, Ont and Freida (Russ) Tharp of Manotick, Ont. She will be sadly missed by her five grandchildren: Jenna, Jake, Erin, Fawn and Prism, and one great grandchild: Leo.
Marg was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Annie (nee Ryan) Shane.
Marg was born near the shore of the South Nation River in Lemieux, Ontario. When she was young, the family moved to start a new life on a farm near Winchester Springs. She grew up there, attending the one room school house near by. After acquiring her teaching certificate, she taught briefly in Larder Lake, and then moved to Wawa Ont, in 1952 where she met and married John. Marg raised four kids and taught school through many busy years before moving to Gravenhurst in 1970. When John retired, they turned their Gravenhurst home into a B&B for over a decade. Marg and John moved to Perth in 2006.
Her love of travel took her on many adventures with John to all corners of the globe. She loved to relax reading her favourite murder mysteries. Marg will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
Cremation has occurred and due to Covid restrictions, a ceremony will take place at a later date. Those wishing to recognize her life may make a donation to to the Lanark County Interval House. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Chapel, Perth.
