Although I did not know Darren well, I found him to be a honest, friendly and forthright individual, not to mention a good ballplayer. He certainly did not deserve the occasional difficulties with which he was compelled to struggle and managed to overcome them with obvious grace. His son Justin, who often accompanied his father to his ball games, was a delightful boy who reflected the strength of character of his father.
