Obituary of Leonard James Fitzgerald
Leonard passed away unexpectedly July 3, 2021, while visiting family and friends in his hometown of Smith Falls, Ontario at the youthful age of 73. Born in March, 1948, Len was eldest son of James Anthony Fitzgerald and Dorothy Marie Harrison.
Leonard now joins his wife Barbara of 44 years in eternal peace. Len is survived by his children: Andrea (Robert), Jamie (Wayne) and Codi (Michel), grandchildren: Raylene, Isaiah, John (Lisa), Amanda (Paul) and Jolene, great- grandchildren: Jordan, Lily, Liam, Leif, Zoey, John Wayne, and Handsome Jack. Len will also be remembered by his siblings: Dennis (Rhonda), Robert (Nancy), Sister-in-law Denise and sister Donna, as well by many nephews, nieces, and dear friends from across Canada, the United States, and Jamaica. Leonard was predeceased by his mother and father, brother Patrick, sister Kathryn and daughter Stacy. Len’s joyful optimism could be seen by all who knew him and that passion for life led him to many great adventures! A wise and strong leader to both his families in Alberta and Ontario and a loyal comrade to his trucking and biker family. He was a nature lover and had a soft spot for his dog Bella and all his children’s pets.
Visitation will be held from 7-9PM, Friday, July 9, 2021, at Serenity Funeral Service – North Chapel, 10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, AB. Funeral Service, 2:00PM, Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Serenity Funeral Service – North Chapel. Cremation will follow. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery for Leonard, Barbara and Stacy will take place on Monday, July 12 2021, at 1:00pm
Messages of condolence and memorial donations may be dropped off at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls, and will be forwarded to the family in Alberta.
