Donald passed away peacefully at Lanark Lodge on Tuesday, August 10^th, 2021 at the age of 89 and has been reunited with his late wife Elizabeth “Betty”. He was the devoted father of Dawn (the late Bob) Palmer, Vicky (the late Gerry) Findlay (Brian Baker), Rick (Dorothy) Oakes and Janie (Earl) Kerr. Donald was the treasured grandfather of Shaun (Christine), Cory (Nicole), Derek (Laura), Chris (April), Nicole (Mike), Donny (Mel), Katlyn (Cory), Katie (Tim) and Billy, and the great-grandfather of Amelia, Olivia, Brogan, Ellie, Jack, Gray, Payton, Gage, Hailey, Lennox, Macie, Abbie, Morgan, Chael, Emmett and Adrian. Donald’s passing marks the end of a generation, he joins his brothers and sisters in paradise; Harold (Win), Eleanor (Gord McMillan), June (Ken Bygrove), Bill (Betty), Shirley (Carl Davis) and Carl (Marg). Donald was fondly referred to as “Gramps” and will be sadly missed by his many friends at “Last Hunting Camp” also by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours. The family of Donald Oakes would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the staff, nurses and doctors of Lanark Lodge for all their care and support.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, August 12^th, 2021 at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Perth from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. A private family service will be held.  Interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. In honour of Donald, memorial contributions to the Diabetes Association or the Lanark County Community Home Support would be appreciated by the family.
