A Tribute to Our Precious Mom – Shirley Elizabeth Anna Varcoe(Sauve) November 21, 1939 – October 20, 2021
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” Psalm 139:14
God Bless you Mom, as you step over the threshold into heaven, enveloped in the Heavenly Father’s all encompassing arms, and hear the words you have yearned so long to hear – “Well done and welcome home my child”. Our hearts desire is for you to know you leave behind a legacy of God’s love, joy and peace.
None More Beautiful Than You Mom
There were never more beautiful eyes than yours Mom;
sparkling bright with unconditional love so right.
There was never a more attentive ear than yours Mom;
tuned to hear our cries far or near.
There was never a more stunning smile than yours Mom;
that brightened the darkest days into victorious praise.
There was never a more melodious voice than yours Mom;
when you sang your praises to the Lord, you adored.
There were never more compassionate hands than yours Mom;
As you gently cradled and held us, our children and their children with
such loving fuss.
There were never feet more swift than yours Mom;
that were quick to rescue and comfort when things went askew.
And now the time has come that heaven has called you home
And now your eyes will see your Lord.
And now your ears will hear “Well done” from His throne.
And now your smile will join the angels in brilliant light.
And now your voice will join the heavenly choir with all your might.
And now your hands are lifted high in adoration to the Lord most high.
And now your feet will forever dance free,
as you celebrate in heaven for eternity.

As the years passed there were changes but your eyes never dimmed. Your love grew more and spread to all. Your smile and laugh deepened. Your hands, though tired, still extended and helped all. And your feet, though slowed, still managed to dance. And though the cancer has taken your physical body, it did not steal your joy and spirit.
God blessed this world beyond measure when on November 21, 1939 a little dark haired baby girl named Shirley Elizabeth Anna McQuatt was born to the proud parents of Noble and Edith McQuatt in Kirkland Lake, Northern Ontario. This precious little one grew up with 2 sisters; Florence and Linda, and two brothers; Floyd and Ron. Shirley, though at times somewhat mischievous, blessed all those around her with her love, joy and humour. She married a handsome, dashing young gentleman named Gordon Thomas Varcoe. After brief stints in Timmins and Rockwood Ontario, they settled down in Perth, where they raised their family of seven children. She loved God with her whole being and daily lived out her faith. Through Loving Liberia, an organization that provides fresh water, Mom paid for the drilling of a well to provide fresh, clean water to a village there. On behalf of each of her children she purchased 7 goats through Operation Christmas Child to bless 7 third world families.
Mom’s desire to be used by God and be a blessing was evidenced in her love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.
Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband Gordon Varcoe and is survived and adored by her seven children: Darlene(Joe) Grindley, Christine(Bob) Klassen, Charlene(Anthony) Rediker, Eileen Varcoe, Gordon Jr. (Denise), Jason(Sherri) and Bonnie(Mike) Bothwell; her beloved grandchildren: Jonathan, Chara, Michael, Sarah, Christian, Colton, Jazlyn, Dustin, Jesse, Brandy, Thomas and James and cherished great grandchildren: Loki, Nyx, Braden, Peyton, Eden, Mason, Rowen, Fallon, Dannilynn, Gabriel, Abigail, Hannah, and Ryan.
We can hear your voice now Mom, strong and clear ringing down from heaven:
“Yes Jesus loves you, Yes Jesus loves you,
Yes Jesus loves you, the Bible tells me so.”

Special thank you to:
Dr. Alan Drummond (her one and only Doctor who not only gave
her the best medical care but an emotional bond she will cherish forever)
Dr. Andrew Robinson (cancer specialist, Kingston, Ont)
And all the nurses who helped fulfill Mom’s wish to pass into glory in her
home surrounded by her children and family.
