Obituary of Ethel Marie Day

Day, Ethel Marie (Sweeney)
May 17, 1926 to November 22, 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Ethel Marie (Sweeney) Day, on Monday, November 22nd, 2021 in her 96th year, at Lanark Lodge, Perth.  She will be sadly missed by her loving husband John 'Jack" Day, her children Brian (Barbara) Day, Kevin (Terry) Day, Cathy (Stephen) McGlade, Barbara Huddleston and Steven Day, her grandchildren Todd Day, Jennifer Edwards (John Gillman), Clifford (Laura) McGlade, Stephen (Amber) McGlade, Katie Huddleston and Joe (Kerri Lee) Huddleston, her great grandchildren David Edwards, Noah and Liam McGlade, Aiden Bingley, Alex and Aeron McGlade, Vincent and Nathanael Huddleston.  Ethel was predeceased by her parents Timothy and Lenore "Carrie" Sweeney, her siblings Ernest (Addie) Sweeney, Jo-Hannah (Don) McTavish, Lavina (Patrick) Lacey and Jenny (Leo) Lacey. Ethel was a gentle, soft spoken homemaker, who took great care of her family and babysat many children over the years.  She loved to play euchre, cribbage and solitaire, read mystery novels, put together puzzles and bake.  Ethel and Jack celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary earlier this month.

Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. West, Perth on Thursday, November 25th, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Proof of double vaccination will be required for all attending the visitation.  A private funeral service will be held for the family, followed by interment at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Perth. In remembrance of Ethel contributions to the Lanark Lodge Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
