Daughter to John and Bernadine Brons both predeceased. Beloved wife and best friend of Gary Eeuwes for 56 years who predeceased her March 14, 2010. Loving mother to Diane Eeuwes of Saskatchewan and Debbie (Guy) Beath of Smiths Falls. Truly adored Oma to Alicia (Cory) Hewitt and Matthew Beath. Dear sister to Diny Tonk (Karl predeceased) of New Zealand and Dory VanDoesum (Adri) Holland. Predeceased by siblings Co, Hank, Ann, Trudi, John and Cor. Mary was born in the Netherlands on May 18, 1931 to a large family. She learned to take joy in work from a young age helping on her family’s farm. In her teenage years Mary met her future husband Gert “Gary” Eeuwes. They planned to move to Canada to begin the next chapter of their life. In 1953 the couple immigrated to Canada. They landed in Killarney, Ontario where they worked at a private lodge resort. Mary and Gary ran the resort together and had many fun times on the Georgian Bay. They decided to take their love and passion for horticulture and turn it into a family business. They then became the new owners of Green Acres Greenhouses in Smiths Falls, ON in 1974. Here they made many friends and became prominent members of the community. They were patrons of St. Francis De Sales church for the rest of their lives and did many services throughout the community and church. Later in life Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, traveling back to the Netherlands and spending time being a very active grandparent. Family always came first to her. Mary was the most reliable, patient and caring woman. She believed in hard work but believed more that you should always have fun doing it. She practiced looking at the brighter side of things, always. She left her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren with many beautiful memories, skills and beliefs. Throughout the years, Mary was always proud of her dual Dutch & Canadian citizenship and honoured her duty to her family, community and country. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church, Smiths Falls on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery. In remembrance, contributions to St. Francis de Sales Church Building Maintenance Fund would be appreciated.
