I spent countless hours with the King family and loads of childhood memories come to mind: riding Patches, dressing up Rufus the dog, building forts, eating apples, listening to old country and western legends on the record player, trying to understand Uncle John’s laugh-filled chatter.
In the center of it all was Jean: incredible gardener, cook, wife, mother, sister and more. Jean worked hard and played hard. She was happy to laugh and have fun.
Much, much later I met her and was surprised at how tiny she was. After speaking to her for a while, I began to understand how her physical stature had nothing to do with her power and impact as an individual. She was a force.
I am a better person for knowing her and her kin. My dearest condolences go to the King family.

Oh so sorry to hear of Jean's passing. My prayers to you Melba, Randy, Kevin, Michael, Brandon and families. She was a generous lady and I'll always remember her telling me I would be a loving mother as I was standing swaying with my wee one.
