Sorry to hear of John's passing Beth.
We've lost a good neighbour and another of our treasured people we could depend on for local history.
I always enjoyed my chats with John and usually came away with a farming tip or some other piece of wisdom.
In an era when everyone seems to think they don't have time to spare John always took time to talk.

Betty and I are saddened at seeing the passing of John. You both lived life well and the Harley Davidson's were a memory we had of you both many years ago when we lived close by on the Scotch Line. His smile was always so welcoming and he made you feel good just talking to him.

For many students in Seaway’s Agriculture program, John Ferrier taught them Chainsaw Safety. Over a multi-day course, John made sure they knew how to safely and properly drop trees and clean them up. He had a passion for teaching and a straight forward, no fuss approach. He used plain language to make sure students understood the concepts he was trying to convey. Sometimes you find great teachers outside the walls of a school, and John was certainly a fine example.

It is with much sadness that I heard of the passing of John Ferrier, our chainsaw course instructor for many years. Many members of the local Chapters of the Ontario Woodlot Association, will remember him as he gave the chainsaw safety course to probably most of the members, over the last 15 years. Many of us got to enjoy his down-to-earth style of instruction. He knew is stuff well and was very professional.
On behalf of myself and the rest of the chapter, I send my sincerest condolences to Beth and the rest of John's family.

Beth and family we are so sorry for your loss. John was a hard working, honest neighbour who welcomed us into the community. We appreciated his friendship and will miss seeing him travelling the Scotch Line. John always had an opinion (think green tractors) but was willing to glance at different shade of green!
