Although we lost touch when Heather moved out of the Portland area her impact on our family will always be there. She was the best neighbour anyone could want. So many chats over the years. She would always knit me a pair of mittens to match my winter coat. She graciously painted my son’s goalie helmet -it was one of a kind. I still can’t believe she is gone. She will be missed by so many.

Dear Andreas, David, Julia and Donna,
Thinking of all of you and sending our deepest sympathies on Heather’s passing.
Andreas, you were her rock and the reason that she soldiered on in her battle with cancer. She was looking forward to this coming summer and getting back on the lake with you and continuing the restoration project of her Dad’s boat.
I first met Heather in high school where she sat beside me in Mr. Roy’s Physics class. We reconnected again many years later in the mid 2000’s as part of the Perth Fair Home Craft Committee. Heather amazed me with her ability to take minutes of the meeting and carry on a full conversation, all while knitting flawlessly & not dropping a stitch! Heather was selfless, always cheerful, positive and fiercely passionate about her business, customers and friends. We shared a passion for all things crafting, whether knitting, crochet, sewing or quilting. She was still giving me craft advice only a few weeks ago.
I will certainly miss our almost daily chats and texts with Heather to check in on one another and to see how the day had been.
As we drive the roadways of the Ottawa Valley and the Seaway, we will watch for the signage that Heather created and the trucks and vehicles that she had painted……. all this is a reminder of Heather, her lasting legacy and her impact on our community. She touched all of our lives.
Rest in peace Heather.

Anyone that had ever met Heather probably walked away thinking, "Oh my word that girl can talk!". While I didn't know Heather as well as the rest of my family, she was a blessing to each and every one of us. I first met her at Christmas ten years ago, we had come home in what would be our last Christmas with my brother Randy. I can still see Heather sitting on the couch, hands feverishly knitting while speaking just as fervently. I can't recall the conversation or what she was knitting, but I could immediately sense her love for my family and especially for my brother. In my mind, Heather was one of those people that we all wish for as a friend, a best friend that is always faithful and forever selfless in everything they do.
Our family has been blessed with her friendship and love. We will miss her.
