Stead, Alice “Helen” Lillian
Helen passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Tuesday March 22nd, 2022 at the age of 84. She is now reunited with Leonard, her late husband of 60 years. Helen was the cherished mother of Cheryl Stead and Terry (Lynn) Stead, and the dear grandmother of Brandon (Tiffany) Stead, great-grandmother of Rowyn and Hunter. Helen was predeceased by her parents Mervyn and Louise (nee Rudsdale) Ferrier. She was the dear sister of the late Arthur Ferrier (Joan surviving), the late Keith Ferrier (Margaret surviving), late Dorothea “Dorry” (Jack) Tysick, and the late Jean Ferrier. Helen is survived by her sister-in-law Mildred Munro and predeceased by late Welly Munro, Frank (Kaye) Stead, Earl (Dorothy) Stead and Harold (Lilias) Stead. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Retiring in 1995 after 23 years at Imperial Optical in Welland, Helen and Leonard returned to Lanark to build their retirement home and to be reunited with family and friends.
Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside ceremony at the Hopetown Cemetery on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A reception and celebration of life will follow at Timber Run Golf Club Lanark, Ontario. In honour of Helen, memorial contributions to the Hopetown Cemetery or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.
