Obituary of Mary Lou Leacock
Passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Willowdale Retirement Residence, Smiths Falls at the age of 96. She was the daughter of Robert Edmund and Mary Victoria (nee McIntosh) Avery. On April 8, 1944, Mary Lou married her husband Arthur Allan Leacock enjoyed many years of marriage, until Arthur’s passing in 2010. Once married in Perth, they moved to the Leacock Farm in Kitley Township in Leeds Grenville. Mary Lou was also predeceased by her brother Ken, and sisters Winnifred and Jeanette, and her son-in-law Paul Brown.
Mary and Arthur had seven daughters; Connie (Don) Bielby, Joy (Marc) Pelletier, Mary Lou (Dennis) Leeder, Karen (Jim) Brown, Kathy Leacock, Eleanor (Mark) Renaud and Jacqueline Leacock. In the years to follow, Mary Lou became a cherished grandmother to 10 and proud great-grandmother to 12. She will be sadly missed by her many extended family and Friends in the Frankville, Jasper, Smiths Falls and surrounding communities.
In addition to managing her growing family, Mary Lou was very involved and dedicated to her church in Frankville and the Womens Institute of Jasper, ON. Later in her life with the many community connections she made, she started Leacock Travel Tours and operated her business from the farm house, and travelled the world for 40 years.
The family wishes to thank all of the amazing staff and caregivers at Willowdale Retirement Residence.
Friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son, Smiths Falls Chapel on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the Chapel at 12 o’clock. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Anglican Parish of Kitley, CNIB or the charity of your choice.
