Obituary of Nancy Adeline Potter

Potter,  Nancy A.
With heartfelt sorrow, the family of Nancy Adeline Potter (nee Lee) announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Lanark Lodge in Perth, Ontario.  Nancy was born at home in Lanark, Ontario on December 3, 1934, second beloved daughter of Melville and Marjorie (nee Roffey) Lee.  She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, William (Bill), her sister, Norma Preston, and by long-time partner, Frank Dickie.  She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family:  children Randall, Valerie (Greg), Colin (Glynis) and Laura; grandchildren Catherine (George), Cynthia (Suri), Rebecca, Victoria and Julia, and, Matthew (Taraneh) and Emma (Andrew); and great-grandchildren Kalpana, Neelam, Suri, Pritam and Leonidas.
After moving to Ottawa in 1954 to marry and raise their family, Nancy and Bill returned to Lanark Highlands in 1989 to a family property outside of Lanark Village.  They enjoyed managing a registered cattle herd for several years and travelling by car to points of interest throughout Canada and the U.S.A.  After Bill's passing, Nancy found a devoted partner in Frank:  they toured the country roads in Ontario and New Brunswick on his Harley, much to her delight!  They took cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.  A wonderful mom, Nancy was devoted to her family (including the pets) and enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, listening to music of all kinds, shuffleboard, travel and the thrill of the slot machine!
For 23 years, she wintered in Mexico Beach, Florida (with Bill and later with Frank), which always included shopping trips, matinee movies, a bus trip to the casinos, and outings, dinners, card games and fun with so many snowbird friends and family.  She loved walking on the beach, looking for "baby's ears" -- a delicate white seashell - and feeding the seagulls, as well as befriending the vagabond cats who were welcomed on the deck at the Yellow Rose.  Nancy was a beautiful, gentle soul, who took great pride and joy in her family, and it was our pleasure to hear her laugh.  Nancy could often be heard humming as she went about her busy day.
A funeral service will be held at Blair and Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. West, Perth,  on Saturday, June 11th, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. followed by a reception in the Blair & Son Reception Centre.  Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery Lanark  will follow the reception.
For those who wish, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Society or the Lanark Animal Welfare Society (LAWS) would be appreciated.
