Obituary of Marion Jean Bullis

Mother passed peacefully at home on Sunday August 28, 2022 at the age of 89 years. She was determined to be with her family for as long as possible; our hearts are truly filled with thankfulness for the time we had with her and she will be greatly missed. Predeceased by her much loved parents Harold and Dorothy McGonegal (nee McGillivray); her husband Roy, son Dan, daughter-in-law Gerri, sister-in-law Lyla McGonegal, and brother-in-law Jim Kelford. Marion was the cherished mother of Rick (the late Gerri) Bullis, Terry (Linda) Bullis, David Bullis, and Cindy (Paul) McEwen. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her sisters Wayne McGonegal, Lois Kelford, and her brothers Ted McGonegal and Bill (Irene) McGonegal. She was the beloved grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Marion will be missed by her many extended family members, former colleagues, and her many friends. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, and the kindness shown to all who knew her. Marion’s profession led her to her passion of being an RNA at the public hospital for over 35 years. She touched many people’s lives; she was always ready and willing to serve when needed. The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff at Bayshore for their sensitive in-home care; to Sue for her dedicated and tender support shown toward our mother before and during her final months. Special hugs to Genie McGrath for her friendship with our mom; your monthly visits always made her feel so loved. We are so very grateful. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls (112 Beckwith St. N.) on Saturday September 17, 2022 from 10 – 11 a.m. for visitation, with a service following in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join in the celebration of Marion’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95 (7 Main St. E.) for a gathering full of love and laughter, followed by a light luncheon. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Smiths Falls Community Auxiliary, or to The Heart & Stroke Foundation.
