Obituary of Joanne Bennell
Joanne Bennell (Lee)
(May 8, 1954 - Sept 14, 2022)
Passed away at Kerry University Hospital in Tralee, Ireland, after a courageous and unyielding battle with cancer at the age of 68 with close friend, Glynn Shannan, at her side. Joanne was on her dream vacation in Ireland with several of her BFFs. Beloved mother of Meagan (Ricky Wood) of Copenhagen, Denmark and Christopher (Morgan Mavis) of Toronto and devoted grandmother of Rhodeo. Daughter of Beryl and the late Murray Lee. Loving sister of Daniel (Maxine), Timothy (Beverley), Ormond (Judith), Myrna De Cou (Douglas), Murray, Alicia (Ian Hay), Jeffrey (Mary Jane), Mark, Mary Ellen Stewart (Terry), Regan (Sheila) and Jennifer. She will be sadly missed by nieces and nephews: Krista, Daniel (Kelly), Mayra, René (Lauren), Shayna, Jeffrey, Alicia, Michaela, Regan (Rhea), Murray (Hannah), Wesley, Timothy (Francois), Truman (Taylor), Thor (Kathleen), Anna, Tia, Eliza (Eoghan) and Olivia (Bryce). And by her extended family and her many good friends. Joanne graduated from Algonquin College with a diploma in Cartography and worked as a cartographer in Edmonton for many years. Returning to Perth, Joanne enjoyed her many years in real estate at Coldwell Banker, only recently retiring. She loved entertaining her friends, singing and music and worked selflessly in the early years of the Perth Stewart Park Festival, helping to make it the success it is today. Joanne was a talented artist, was a beautiful knitter, and an adventurous cook - we will miss her rum balls and her salmon. She loved her time on Otty Lake. She had a fabulous sense of humour and loved to laugh. The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by the dedicated health professionals who gave Joanne the very best treatment available. At Joanne's request, there will not be a funeral, but family and friends are invited to her Celebration of Life on Sunday September 25th, 12:00 noon -3:00 P.M, at the Rocky River Restaurant, 8 Wilson St. East, Perth. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.
