Obituary of Shirley Christine Tysick

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 28th, 2022 at Lanark Lifestyles Retirement Community at the age of 85. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Tysick and the cherished and loved mother of Randy Tysick (Chris), Rick Tysick (Karen), Lee Ann Tysick, and the late Kim Tysick. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Ethan Tysick (Michelle Davis), Colin Tysick (Rachel), Megan Tysick, Matt Tysick (Amber) and Miranda Normile (Aaron) and her great-grandchildren Maverick, Cash and Colter. She will be fondly remembered by all her brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, extended family and all her special friends. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Howard and Florence Croskery and her brother Kenneth Croskery.

While raising a family and building and running a family business (Tay River Tent and Trailer Park) Shirley always managed to work full-time (International Silver, International Scissors and the Perth Hospital). After Shirley and Herb retired, they sold the trailer park and built their dream house on Christie Lake where they spent many years enjoying the lake life. She enjoyed travelling and during her 54-year marriage to Herb, they managed to explore most of Canada and the United States. After retiring they wintered many years in Texas and Florida. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, reading, and most of all playing golf. She was along standing Lioness member and devoted her time and support to many fundraising activities. She loved nothing more than to be with her family and friends enjoying their company with good food and drink. Although her last several years were tormented by many health issues, she always tried to push forward and keep going with a smile. Her passing will be a loss to many.

Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside ceremony at Elmwood Cemetery on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022 at 2:00pm followed by a celebration of her life at the Stone Cellar (71 Gore St. E. Perth) from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. As expressions of sympathy memorial contributions to the War Amps or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements are in the care of Blair and Son Funeral Home, Perth.
