Peacefully at Lanark Lodge on Saturday, November 12th, 2022, Gladys passed away at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her beloved husband J. Arthur Mather and by her parents Dougall and Ethel (nee Conroy) Stewart. Gladys was the loving mother of L. Darlene Mather (Victor Massari), Bev Mather-Dunn (Larry), and Gloria MacDonell (late Kevin). She was the cherished grandmother of Matthew (Erin), Melissa, Sarah, Allan, Nicholas and Micheala, and the great-grandmother of Brooklyn, Belle, Daimion, Maddysen, Marshall and Charlie. Gladys was the dear sister of Sheila Wallace (late Wayne) and Sandy Stewart (Glenna). She was predeceased by her siblings Walter Stewart, Gord Stewart (Janis), John Stewart (late Gaile), Mary Horne (late Ken), George “Gordie” Gordon Stewart, Sally Schmeizle, and Brenda Kennedy. She was also predeceased by her siblings’ in-law Ralph Mather (late Joyce), Anneth Martin (late Charlie) and Norma Coleman (late Art). She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Friends may call at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Friday, November 25th, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Gladys’ funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Perth. In honour of Gladys, memorial contribution the Alzheimer’s Society of Lanark, Leeds & Grenville would be appreciated.
