Obituary of Pat Tovey

Patrick Joseph Tovey
October 23, 1930 – February 6, 2023

Pat passed away early morning at the Perth Community Care Centre. He was the much loved husband of Bertha (Jackson) for 68 years.  Left behind and very sad are his children Steve, Cheryl, Kevin, Cathy (Dan Belleau), Patsy (Stephen) Ikert, Tanya (Andrew) Francom. He was predeceased by his nicest daughter Debbie (Dick) Bonselaar.  Missed by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frieda (Bill) McPhee and Ken Jackson.  Survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. 

Predeceased by his twin sister Theresa (Don) Crawford, sister Kay (Archie) Hall and by his wife’s many brothers and sisters.

After retiring from many years at Digital in Kanata, he ended his commute and started the greatest gig ever, retirement!  Along with taking his turn in the kitchen and cooking at a hunting camp, he was involved in many activities.  He loved to golf (aka swear), and curl.  He was a huge supporter of the Knights of Columbus and became a Fourth Degree Knight. He also spent much of his time at the Legion, dancing beautifully with Bertha, having a few beers and spent many years in the Colour Party. Pat was also a longtime volunteer at the foodbank, which is now The Community Table.  His talents lay in woodworking, repairing just about everything and was well known for playing the spoons.  Pat spent his last 4 years in Perth Community Care with the evil disease dementia.  There are not words enough to thank the staff for the care that he received there.  He was always known for a smile, a quick joke, and his kindness.  He will be always missed. 

Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth on Wednesday February 8th, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Johns Church, Perth on Thursday February 9th, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. The interment will be held in St. Johns Cemetery followed by a reception at the Perth Legion Branch.
