Obituary of Emily Marie Picard
Emily Marie passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday March 4th, 2023 at the age of 20, at her long-term care home in Kingston, Ontario after nearly a 12 year struggle with a seizure disorder. Emily was given only days to live in May of 2011, but she extended her time by nearly 12 years, to serve as an inspiration to others.
Emily was born in Smiths Falls, Ontario on December 12th, 2002. She grew up in the town of Perth. Emily was the beloved and cherished daughter of Paul Picard and Kara Clarke. She was incredibly close to her older siblings and the most wonderful baby sister to Alex and Kayla Picard. She was the granddaughter of Elizabeth “Betty” Clarke (Amyot), Brendan Clarke (Lise Thibert-Clarke), Shirley Picard and the late Albert “Bert” Picard. She will be missed by her dear aunts and uncles; Allison (Jeff Sinden) Clarke, Kelly Clarke, Marc-André Thibert & Robert (Caroline Schönström) Picard. She was also the beloved niece and Goddaughter of Suzanne Picard and Natalie (Kerry) Deachman.
Emily was the cherished cousin of Jessica (Adam) Norwood, Owen & Eli Norwood, Stefan (Mary-Kate) Deachman, Weston & Aubree Deachman, Camille Ferland, Axel and Emelia Picard. as well as Ariel, Gavin and Mason Shaw, Katherine “Kate” and Elizabeth Sinden.
Emily left behind many great-aunts and great-uncles as well as many dear cousins and extended family who will miss her very much.
One of the greatest lessons that we learned from Emily was to focus on peoples’ abilities rather than their limitations. She also taught us all that life is fragile and precious, and to appreciate those whom we love. She had the brightest smile and eyes; despite her being non-vocal, she somehow communicated more than words could ever say. The lessons that Emily taught us will live with us forever. Emily will never be forgotten- she was the type of person that is impossible to forget. We will always love you our sweet Emily Marie.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Perth on Friday, March 10th, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Emily’s mass will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at 10:00am. Interment to follow at St. John’s Parish Cemetery. All are welcome.
