Obituary of Louise Dolinki (nee Churchill)

It is with great sadness that we announce that Louise passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on April 28th in her 76th year.  Louise was the beloved wife of Ron Dolinki for 54 years and the cherished mother of Kristopher (Pamela) and Kurtis (Rosanna). She was the loving Nana to Jessica, Emma, William and Hudson. Louise was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was also survived by her father Lyall Churchill (97), sister Lorraine (Lawrence Allen), sister-in-law Evelyn (Bob) Kerr and will be missed by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.  Louise was predeceased by her mother Marion.

Louise was a graduate of SFDCI and was the youngest graduate of her Brockville General nursing class of 1966 and completed a Gerontology program at St. Lawrence College. For over 40 years Louise enjoyed a diverse and rewarding career in the nursing field always putting her patients/clients first. She held  positions including general duty nursing at St. Frances Hospital, the Student Health Service at Western Illinois University, a number of nursing homes including Lanark Lodge and was Director of Care at Tayview Nursing Home.  She also worked early in her career at the Rideau Regional Centre and later provided home care with the Victorian Order of Nurses. She also managed the largest ever Addiction Research Foundation study on Senior’s drug use and managed an Alzheimer Outreach Program. Louise was also the founding director of the Friends for Seniors Program in Smiths Falls and for the final 13 years of her career was a Placement Coordinator with the Community Care Access Centre.

After entering retirement, Louise and Ron enjoyed a number of years together at their new home on Big Rideau Lake. As Louise fought her battle with cancer it seemed only fitting that her care was managed by a large group of caring medical professionals. The family would like to send special thanks to her doctors, nurses and technicians in Perth, Smiths Falls, Riverside, Ottawa General and Civic hospitals, Bayshore Health Care and the St. Lawrence Eye Centre in Brockville for the compassionate care they provided to our loved one.

For those wishing to pay their respects, visitation will take place at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls (112 Beckwith Street N) on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. A private funeral and interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery.  If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
