Debbie, Patty and I are so sorry we missed the Celebration of Joey's Life at the Toledo Legion. It would have been a good opportunity to share a huge number of " tall tales " with family and close friends, related to my relationship with him ,as a dedicated firefighter, Chief and most of all, a loyal friend and colleague. I'm so glad he was able to successfully complete his Maple Syrup production operation. We will all miss him ! Rick and Patty St. Dennis

We are saddened to hear of Joel’s death. He will be missed. He is now more than ever a part of the Town of Smiths Falls Fire Department history, but also of the Collaboration of the Fire Department as Chief and the Police Department Chief Larry Hardy for what is a best Emergency 911 system now. The “Hoses and Guns” worked together. He realized the Best was always a united front in matters for the Town of Smiths Falls. RIP alongside your cooperative buddy Larry Hardy. So sad. The last of the two legends. Bringing Smiths Falls into a golden era of cooperation and new technology. The over due needed upgrades to both services. Debbie and all family. I remember fondly coming to Fred’s & Joan’s home to visit. My Dad John Currie was one of Freds best friends from their teens. Dad would disappear with Fred and they would talk photography, or whatever. I was a little timid as Joey and Johnny were five years older, Judy was closer to my age. Boy did I learn a new language, never spoken in my home and I was fascinated. These words were all spoken in love and I loved them all because of their weird love, but won’t we all have a weird love? Debbie, Johnny, Judy and family please take comfort that Joey was loved by many and especially loved you.
