Obituary of Carl Moss
Passed away peacefully at Kingston General Hospital, with family at his side, following a brief illness on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, just 2 month's short of his 87th birthday. Loving and devoted husband for 63 years of Joyce Moss (nee Echlin). Proud father Linda (Don) Middleton, Bev (Peter) Hewitt, and Shelley (Joe) Nadeau. Cherished grandfather of Meghan (Ryan) Whitney, Danielle (Matt Goodfellow) Hewitt, Connor (Maeve Miskelly) Hewitt, Cassidy (Sebastien Cormier) Nadeau and Nicholas (Emmaleigh) Nadeau; and great grandfather of Aubrey and Everleigh Whitney and Briggs Nadeau.
He will be fondly remembered by his surviving siblings, many nieces, nephews, his extended family, friends, and Joyce’s entire family. To help make ends meet in the early days, Carl worked taxi, grocery, service station, and bread and mail delivery alongside a long and successful career in sales with the Ontario Automobile Association (OAA). After obtaining his Certified General Accountant diploma in 1972, he provided accounting and tax preparation services right to the end. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95 and volunteered many hours chairing bingo, marshalling parades and helping with the annual poppy campaign. Carl was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and camp and he remained a faithful fan to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. A service to celebrate his wonderful life will take place in the Chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. A private interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Bursaries and Scholarships Fund.
