Gisela “Gigi” Neunheuser Murphy

Passed peacefully on July 15, 2023 at the age of 78 years old in Smiths Falls, Ontario. Beloved wife of Bruce Murphy. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Heather Pennuci; granddaughters Nicolette Pennuci, Tiffany Merryweather, and Cheyenne Pennuci; and her great-grandchildren Makayla, Danny Jr, and Brinley. She will also be deeply missed by her sister-in-law Adele Sheahan and brother-in-law D’Arcy Murphy. Gigi was born in Germany in 1944 and spent her first 6 years there before moving to America. She graduated university in New Jersey and began working for Columbia University where she also continued her education. Gigi absolutely loved animals of all kinds, but she held a special place in her heart for dogs. While living in Tennessee she took care stray animals, making sure they had food and clean water. With such a kind and giving heart it is no surprise that she was beloved by everyone who met her; she brightened everyone’s day just by being herself. Gigi and Bruce spent 14 wonderful years at the Bass Lake campsite where she was well-known and much loved; she will be fondly remembered by all her friends. Gigi loved to travel with Bruce; they have travelled all over the world together from several fun-filled cruises, stops in Las Vegas, and driving in their RV together. Gigi loved Canada, especially the Smiths Falls and Perth areas where she’d made so many friends. Bruce would like to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors at Broadview Nursing Home for their care and compassion.
