Obituary of William (Bill) Joseph Carroll

September 28^th, 1940 – August 8^th, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of William (Bill) Joseph Carroll at Broadview Nursing home on Tuesday August 8^th, 2023.  He was surrounded by the love of his family. Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy (McAvoy) Carroll, and daughters Janet Dionne and Joanna Jones.  He was the loved Grampie to Texan, Brick & Aria Jones, Vincent (Joannie), Patrick (Stephanie) & Ryan Dionne and Great Grampa to Elliot & Claire Dionne. He was predeceased by his parents Janet & Luke E. Carroll, his brothers Allan, Lorne & Luke and sister Shirley Hunter, and son in-law Dan Dionne. Also remembered by his sisters-in-law Barbara Carroll, & Biddy (late Allan) Mackie and brothers-in-law Jim Hunter and Tom Kiersteid & son in-law Marty Jones, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and good neighbors.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rideau Council 2444 & Bill was a hard working man who retired from the Federal Government with 35 years of service. In retirement he enjoyed keeping busy spending time with family doing things he loved most including attending Auction sales, gardening, looking after his horses and working around the farm driving his Farmall tractors. Throughout the years he always had a loving sidekick by his side; Knox, Mel, Chico and lastly Honey.  Last but not least he was a die hard “ Toronto Maple Leafs” fan and only wished they could have won just one more Stanley Cup!  There are no good-byes, we will see you later and you will forever be in our Hearts. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls, Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery. A reception to celebrate Bill’s life will follow at the Blair & Son Reception Centre, Smiths Falls. In memory of Bill, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society will be appreciated.
