I am so sadden by this news. Gerard was a dear friend to us and we enjoyed the many adventures and community events that we worked together on. I always enjoyed his drop ins at our house to catch up on all the news. He was a man of great faith and kindness. He was well loved in Orleans by many friends and will be extremely missed. I have known Gerard since we were in the first Kindergarten class at St. John’s Elementary School in Perth with Miss McKinnon. Throughout our years at St. John’s, Gerard always received First Highest Standing in our class, and much to my chagrin, I always received Second Highest Standing. Given the time period it was really quite amazing the enrichment opportunities we were given. For example, in Grade 8 we had already completed the French requirement so we were able to take Grade 9 Latin…not sure either of us remembered a word of it. Long after we graduated from St. John’s, and then PDCI, Gerard always made a point of keeping in touch and sharing memories of those years. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those that he has left behind. Your smile and warm embrace will be remembered.

Theresa and all of Gerard’s family in Perth and in Orleans, our sincere condolences to all of you. Gerard was and always has been a loving, caring, thoughtful, fun and happy guy since I met him many many years ago when we were just young pups. I grew up with Gerard and his family. It was with great sadness to read about his passing. Way too young ….may you rest in Peace my friend Gerard. Gerard and I had many good times when he was in Perth. He worked at my dads store with us and he was always very friendly to all, great smile and sense if humor.
I know he will missed by many.

OMG. This is so sad to read. We had made plans to get together. I was going g to help him plan a crafts show of sorts for his charity. Gerard and I worked together at CRA for a longtime and remained friends o we the years. My sympathy to his family and friends.
