My personal condolences to the McLaren family on their loss.
I met Nancy for the first time back around 2004. I had joined a team on which she was working and I came quickly to understand that she knew her material and was helpful to get the answer to "why" things worked the way they did. I admired her depth of knowledge and had tremendous respect for her. She had a laugh that you could recognize from across the room and it you went over, you usually found others with her that were laughing at the story or situation she was talking about.
I had left and we met again when I re-joined her division in 2014. It was nice to discuss things with her again and she could still make people laugh with her stories. Her knowledge was deeper than before and she would be as helpful as she was before. Despite the passage of time, Nancy remained the person we liked and respected. When she retired, I wished her a long and enjoyable retirement without work worries. So it was sad news to learn of her passing. I hope she had the time to do things she wanted and that she had more time with her family. She was missed when she retired but she will not be forgotten in her passing because she left good memories with her colleges at CSE.
