Obituary of Arthur Robert Miller
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Arthur Robert Miller on September 6th, 2023 at the age of 94yrs in Kingston, Ontario. He passed peacefully with his family by his side and surrounded by their love at Kingston General Hospital.
Arthur was predeceased by his parents Ross and Marion (Wright) Miller. Loving and devoted husband of the late Edythe Miller (Rathwell); Beloved father to Brenda Lyons (Gordon) of Mississauga, Lori Dalcourt (Danny) of Mississauga, & Steven Miller (Susan) of Thorold. He will be dearly missed by his Grandchildren; David, Jeffrey, Ashley, Adam, Christina, Traci & Trudi and Great-Grandchildren; Austin, Bryia, Caitlynne, Caleb, Jack, Caleb & Owen. Proud great-great grandfather to Bjorn. Arthur will be deeply missed by his brothers Donald (Wilma), Clifford (Alice) & Calvin (Sue) Miller. He will be fondly remembered by the entire Miller clan of Lombardy as well as the Rathwell family.
He was born and raised in Lombardy before settling in Kingston where he began his career as a mechanic at Colonial Coach. He took these skills to the Ministry of Transportation where he retired after 30+ years as a Vehicle Inspector. Never one to sit still he went on to become the first Kingston Taxi Commissioner. After which he enjoyed a short career driving school bus; all the while working part-time as an usher at the Kingston Memorial Centre since the early 1970’s.
He spent his lifetime devoted to his family and friends always at the ready to help! Forever remembered for his hard work, independence and humour. Deeply Missed, Never Forgotten!
Family and friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls (112 Beckwith St, N) on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service to celebrate his life at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place following the funeral reception at Rideau Ferry Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
