Obituary of George William Tweedy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George William Tweedy in hospital on September 29, 2023, at the age of 84. George was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend of over 40 years, Beverly Tweedy (McNaughton) and his parents Arthur and Bessie Tweedy. George was the loved and respected father to John (Nathalie) Tweedy and Cheryl (Mike) Hoganson and cherished grandfather to Damien, Colin, Kaleigh, and Graeme. Dear brother of Ab and Ed Tweedy and the late Glenn Tweedy. He will be greatly missed by his aunt, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. George will be fondly remembered for his dedication to public education, his intellect, his warmth, and his wit.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth Friday October 6th, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, October 7th, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. followed by a reception in the Blair & Son Family Centre. Interment, Prestonvale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Prestonvale Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
A heartfelt thanks to the dedicated team at the dialysis unit of the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their years of attentive care and the staff of the ICU at the Ottawa General for their support and compassion in George’s final days.
