Obituary of Eileen Porter
The family of Eileen Porter is saddened to announce her peaceful passing at Lanark Lodge, Perth, on Monday, October 2, 2023, at the age of 93. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Stanley Joseph Porter for 60 years who predeceased her in 2011. Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her children Douglas (Nancy) of Rideau Ferry, Dianne (Peter Hanson) of Kanata, and John of Ottawa; her grandchildren Sarah (Patrick) Dunnigan, Trevor (Benjapon) Porter, Adam (Laura) Hanson, Joshua (Aida) Porter, and Rebekah (Dennis) Osorio; her great-grandchildren Santiago, Grace, Gabriel, Aislinn, Charlotte, Olivia, Emma, Declan, Sophie and Lucy; her sister-in-law Frances Williams and will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family, Stanley’s entire family and friends. Eileen is also predeceased by her parents John Mylne and Lorena Ann (nee Covell) Condie; her sisters Isobel (Sidney) Morris and Marion (Calvin) Fawcett; and her sisters-in-law Joyce (Ken) Wright and Reta Helstrom. Eileen was a devoted daughter, youngest sister, loyal wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. She was born and lived a full life in Smiths Falls where she made many friends both in her church and Smiths Falls community. Her faith was strong, and she treasured her life-long commitment to Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family wishes to send a special thank you to all the staff at Lanark Lodge for their care and compassion over Eileen’s five years there. Friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service to celebrate her life and faith at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 12 o’clock. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, followed by a reception at the church hall. Memorial Donations may be made in Eileen Porter’s name to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Smiths Falls, or the Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville.
