Gilbert (Gil) Vincent George LaHaise

June 17,1931

Peacefully passed away September 28, 2023, in Perth Hospital after a short illness. Gil was the proud father of Dan (Pam Bryan), Donna (Bob McDougall,) Colleen (Glen MacDonald), Maureen (Mark Ballerscheff) and Paul (Catharine Moore). He also leaves behind their children’s mother Patricia nee (Spencer), is predeceased by his second wife the late Sheila Lamb, and mourned by his stepchildren Jeff (Trish), Tom (Lani), and Kathy (Ken). Gil was the seventh of fifteen children, predeceased by his father Robert, mother Dorcina (Francoeur), his siblings Vi, Joan, Claire, Gerald, Leo, Ray, Deanne, Marcel, Micky and survived by Denis (Stella), Peter, Jerry (Rosemary), Marty (Angelika), and Linda. He was also blessed with nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Gil was fortunate to love and have loved by Eileen Chapman (nee Arnott). Eileen was the mother of Terry Golding (Julie). Gil and Eileen were brought up in the great place of Britannia.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, painting landscapes and making his maple syrup. In his early years Gil played football for the Britannia Bears and after going to Tech High School went to work at Bell Telephone for thirty years. From Bell he retired to Lanark Highlands.

The family will be holding a celebration of life for Gil on Sunday 22^nd October 2023, at the Perth Civitan, 6787 Lanark County Rd 43, Perth from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.
