Obituary of Mervin Earl Conboy
It is with deep sadness that the family of Mervin Earl Conboy announce his sudden and peaceful passing on Wednesday October 18th, 2023 at Perth Site of the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital. Dad leaves us to be with his beloved wife Sib and his beloved son Grant. Dad was predeceased by his parents Russell and Edna Conboy and sister Lorena Shelly.
Left to mourn his passing are his daughter Carol, her husband Terry and their children Rachel, Dylan, Rhiannon and his son Greg, his wife Joelle and their children Meredith (Mitchell), Shoshanna (Sami), Melany (Dan with Hunter, Dee and Daxton) and Laura (Trevor with Joshua).
Born on April 23rd, 1939, Dad was always a 39’er. He was born in the kitchen at the family homestead and loved to eat his entire life. He was known to never miss a meal or a chocolate chip cookie and was always prompt to the kitchen table.
Dad was a lifelong farmer. His love for pigs since his younger years at the family homestead in Silver Lake grew to building his own barn that was full of pigs for several years. Dad loved his Massey tractors and his Chevrolet trucks. He enjoyed time in the bush cutting trees, piling firewood and was always up for a game of cards, especially euchre. Dads’ most impressive skill was identifying visitors by their tire tracks.
Dad will be laid to rest with a graveside service on Saturday November 11th, 2023 at 2:00pm at Zealand United Cemetery. The family will host a reception at the farm afterwards from 3:30pm to 6:00pm.
