Obituary of Roy Raymond MacRae

Roy began his life January 4, 1937 born on the family farm in Harrington, Quebec. His final journey ended peacefully on November 6, 2023 in Perth, Ontario. Roy was a cherished son to his late mother Jessie MacLean nee Fox. Deeply saddened by his passing is his devoted and adored sister Jane Gregoire (Peter), niece Courtney Streight (Corey) and their children Makenzie and Spencer. He is also survived by his much loved son Marty MacRae (Carol) and grandchildren Samantha Collier (Chris), Sara, and Zachary MacRae. Thinking of him with warm memories are his half-siblings Maggie Newlove (Craig), David MacRae (Debbie), and Eddy MacRae (Eileen). He is predeceased by his stepfather Kenneth MacLean and half-brother Jimmy MacRae (Murielle). In his younger years while living on the farm, Roy taught himself to play the fiddle, accordion, and harmonica. He also loved to frequent the local establishments so he could dance up a storm. Roy had his own sense of style and had to ensure his appearance was perfect before venturing out. He deeply loved his family and was kind and generous to all. If there was anything that needed to be done, he would always lend a helping hand until his health no longer permitted. He was a life-long and number one fan of the Montreal Canadiens. As per Roy’s wishes there will be no wake and a private family graveside service will be held in Spring 2024. To those wishing to make a donation in Roy’s memory, please consider Furry Tales Cat Rescue as Roy was best buds with his cat Jack. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff on the Oakridge Unit at Lanark Lodge for the kindness and exemplary care given to Roy during his stay. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls ON.
