Bates, Arnold “Arnie”

Arnold peacefully passed away in the Perth hospital on Monday, November 27th, 2023 at the age of 89 years.  He was the beloved husband of Rhoda (Wallack) Bates for 38 years.  Arnie was the cherished father to Angie Driscoll, Steven, Bill, Lynn and Rick Maraczi, Donna Wallack and Leslie Wallack and the grandfather of many grandchildren including Amber Maraczi and great grandchildren including Luca.  Predeceased by his infant daughter Cindy and sisters Barbara & Joan. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his sister Judy West.

Arnie was raised in Gananoque, worked in Kingston then retired in Perth.  His lifetime work was in the construction business Smith Butler-Belcon).  Arnie’s life passions were golfing, curling and visiting Puerto Vallarta.  After his retirement in Perth he indulged in and enjoyed feeding backyard wildlife.

As per Arnies request cremation has taken place, services are private for the family. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.  In remembrance of Arnie, contributions to Lanark Animal Welfare Society (LAWS) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
