Lumsden, Shirley D. (Nee Morrison)
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Smiths Falls Hospital on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the age of 86. Beloved wife and best friend for more than 65 years of Ronald Lumsden. Loving and devoted mother of Rick (Anne) Lumsden, Randy (Betty) Lumsden and the late Rhonda Lumsden. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer, Robert, Sarah and Alanna. Shirley was a loving sister to Dennis (Linda) Morrison. Shirley will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law Ray (Linda) Lumsden, Sharon (Arlan) Popkey, Bill (Linda) Lumsden, Doug (Judy) Beattie, Sheila Doyle, as well as her many extended family and friends. Nancy (Ross) Turner is a cousin, but was more like a younger sister growing up. Shirley was predeceased by her sisters-in-law Patricia Beattie, Shirley (Wayne) Convey and her brother-in-law John “Tim” (Marilyn) Lumsden. Shirley was a beautiful and caring person to all she knew. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher, where she would teach her students with kindness, to care and to respect one another. In her retirement years both Shirley and Ron would travel a lot with Peter and Janice Martin to several locations across the world. Also to Florida, Myrtle Beach for golfing and many ski trips with family and friends.
Friends may pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 3 to 5 p.m. A service to celebrate her wonderful life will take place in the Chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Private interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Perth and Smiths Falls Hospital Foundation – Smiths Falls Site, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
