Obituary of Sandy Fournier

Passed away suddenly after a very brief illness with her loving family by her side on February 15, 2024 in Smiths Falls at the age of 62. Sandy was the loving daughter of Jim and Joyce Ryan (nee Donnelly) who predeceased her in life. She leaves behind her beloved husband Dan Fournier of 38 years; her loving daughters Sarah (Curtis) Kerfoot, and Emily (Curtis) Kociecki; and her adoring grandchildren Knox, Emersyn, and Crue. Sandy was patiently awaiting the arrival of baby-girl Kociecki, due in July 2024. She was a special grandmother and her warm love will be missed by her grandchildren. Sandy will be especially remembered with love and fondness by her mother-in-law Marg Fournier, as well as by her brother-in-law Dale Fournier, and sister-in-law Dianne Fournier. Also remembering her is her sister Patti (Paul) Loyst, step-mother Jean Ryan, and her step-sisters Karen Fisk, Brenda (Doug) Mason, Janice (Bob) Coady, and Diane Fisk. Sandy was the unwavering cornerstone of her family. She epitomized steadfast support, boundless love, and an ever-present willingness to lend a helping hand. As a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and cherished grandmother, Sandy’s warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her. She dedicated the majority of her professional life to Rideau Regional Centre, where she served as a DSW, passionately tending to individuals with disabilities. Following the closure of Rideau Regional, she embarked on a new chapter as a PSW at Lanark Lodge. In both roles, she held dear her position, the individuals under her care, and the camaraderie of her coworkers. Her legacy of love and selflessness will endure in our hearts forever. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Smiths Falls Hospital for their compassion and care of Sandy. Friends and family are invited to attend a gathering of remembrance for Sandy on Thursday February 22, 2024 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls (112 Beckwith Street North). If desired, memorial donations may be made to CHIMO School’s Lunch Program in Sandy’s memory.
