Don passed away in his sleep at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital in the early hours of February 29th, 2024, after a brief stay. Cherished husband of Ann (nee Bourgaize) for 72 years, and much-loved father to Bev Munro and Donna Hutchings. Beloved brother/ brother-in-law to Pat McVeigh, Marlene Couch (Ronnie), Joe Hutchings (Marlene), Kenny Hutchings (Kathy) Predeceased by his parents Fred and Mary (nee Miller) Hutchings and sister June Kerfoot (Arnie) and brother -in-law Stan McVeigh as well as his sister-in-law Barb Norton (Larry), brother-in-law Peter Bourgaize and parents-in-law Tom and Jean (nee McKay) Bourgaize. Fond uncle to many nephews and nieces.

Born in Allan's Mill, Perth and brought up on a farm outside Stanleyville, he knew the value of hard work. He was a natural engineer/mechanic/builder/winemaker/hunter/farmer/musician/sailor and used his talents at home and in his various careers including the Navy, the Airforce, Perth Hospital, and Lanark Lodge. He volunteered his time to maintain the Perth and District Pool for a time. His love of music and the fiddle led him to many more friends. He enjoyed playing with various bands over the years and entertained many seniors at Senior Care homes. Playing with Harry Adrain, Eddie Ashton and Wayne Steele and friends at the Legion was always a highlight!  He loved curling, boating on the Rideau, sailing, and just enjoying family and friends get -togethers.
