Obituary of Mildred Josefchak-Roper

Mildred passed away peacefully in her 97th year on Thursday March 7th, 2024 in the Perth Hospital. She was born June 20, 1927 in Boyle, Alberta. Mildred was predeceased by her parents Peter and Anna Chapa, her siblings Mary, Alex, and John Chapa, her first husband Stephen Peter Josefchak, her second husband George Earnest Roper, and daughter Patricia Josefchak-Balint. She is survived by her son Peter Stephen Josefchak, her grandchildren Erin, Jennifer, Daniel, Andrew, and Adam and great grandchildren Tyler, Sierra, Olivia, and Giulio. 

Mildred was blessed by a career that saw her successful in a number of roles: entrepreneur, administrator, manager, real estate agent and television producer. She served as a director on boards of symphony, theatre, community, and environment organizations. Mildred is a graduate of Concordia University (Bachelor Arts Degree, 1975). She had her early education in rural Alberta schools and at Alberta College in Edmonton. 

Mildred was a strong golfer and supporter of physical fitness activities. She was a member of the Hylands Golf Club, Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, and Rideau Club.  Her hobbies included painting, gardening, and cooking.  She made a difference in the lives of her family members, colleagues, and friends. She will be missed. 

The arrangements are being held privately with spring inurnment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Smith Falls.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the charity of choice.  Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.
