Obituary of Diane Kathleen Smith
Smith, Diane Kathleen (nee McKeown)
On March 19th, 2024, the first day of spring, Diane Kathleen Smith (nee McKeown) made her great escape and died peacefully at Lanark Lodge in Perth, Ontario.
Born in North York, Ontario on December 15th, 1948, Diane spent her youth growing up in the Newmarket, Ontario area and later moved to the Perth area in 1986 with her late husband Robert Smith and their three daughters Shannon, Robin and Lindsay. Many will remember her as a grade 3 teacher at Drummond Central Public School and an active member of her church choir at the Balderson United Church.
Predeceased by her parents Kenneth & Kathleen McKeown and husband Robert Smith, her presence will be sadly missed by her surviving family members. Her daughters Shannon Smith (Sam & Grace MacDonald), Robin Langlois (Dennis Langlois, Russell Smith & Ivy Thomas), Lindsay Rinaldo (Chris, Sophia & Luca Rinaldo), and her siblings Kim Elliott (Erin & Lucas Elliot) Dean McKeown (Gill McKeown), Karen Traicus (Peter Traicus, Eric Rumble & Elizabeth Traicus) are grateful to know that she is now at peace.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Lanark Lodge and Perth Community Care who have cared for Diane over the last 20 years with love and kindness. We appreciate you and all you have done for our family.
A private celebration of life will be held in the future with immediate family. In honour of Diane, memorial contributions to any charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.
