I only got the pleasure of knowing Debra for a couple years but it didn’t take long for me to see what a kind, thoughtful, and beautiful soul she was. I will deeply miss her visits to the spa where we connected so easily. Not long after her husband Brian passed away she shared this poem with me over Facebook that she found so beautiful, it seemed to help her through the tough time and I hope it does the same for you as well. Sending so much love and condolences to her family and friends.

Debra & Brian were one of the first couples to greet my husband and me when we moved into 260 Brockville Street here in Smiths Falls. Debra, being the consummate planner, organized the first "Meet and Greet" for our building and went on to organize several other functions to involve the tenants. She and Brian were such wonderful, giving, folks. We were greatly sadded when Brian passed so suddenly and now Debra following so soon after....... We have lost two very special and incredible people and our circle of friends is greatly diminished by their loss. Remembering you with much fondness and grateful for the opportunity to have had you in our lives, albeit for too short a time.

Sending my deepest condolences to Debra's family. I was in shock to hear the news of her passing. She was a beautiful person and a bright light to those that knew her. Her laugh and smile could light up a room. I was very much looking forward to working with her as a new District Director for the OHA. She was a gentle soul and at the same time a driving force and her loss will be surely missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Sincerely,
Sharlene Desjardins

Sending our sincere condolences to Debra's family and friends on behalf of the Eganville and Area Horticultural Society. She had recently become our District Director and we were looking forward to meeting her. Those who met her at last year's convention were so impressed with her warmth and we were all pleased she had accepted this position. Our thoughts are with you as you grieve this incredible loss.

I worked with Debra for 9 years in Belleville, starting at Royal Trust before RBC. Those are some of my fondest memories working with her, the friendship that we build will leave lasting memories for me. Going through pictures to send to Melissa brought back so many memories that I had forgotten, she should be here to look at them with us. She was an amazing woman, her smile and laugh lit up a room and could make any low day a high one. We used to work long hours together going home very late at night (no laptops back then) and we just did what needed to get done and had fun doing it. As organized as she was at home - work she sometimes had her piles. We would sit together and go through what needed to get done and we recently just joked about it - I loved those pile days and miss those times with her. One time she came to stay with me at my parents when they were away - the highlight was organizing and cleaning out her pantry (she was so excited). Debra had her way of how things should be organized, and for so long after my mom would call me "I can't find .... where is it". I would call Debra; do you remember where you put the ......? We laughed so many times about that weekend, and my mom not being able to find things. She loved to organize and was in her limelight when she completed it and showed you how much better it was. I am still in shock and disbelief and feel at a loss. When I read Melissa's FB post, my first thought was why are these people saying I am sorry for your loss...I thought they read it wrong, and what a horrible mistake they were making. When I saw a reply Melissa made to someone and then realized it was true, I just broke down, not our Debra. She was so much to so many people, she will never be forgotten, she is someone I thought the world of, and I am so sorry I did not get the chance to get just one more hug from her. Her hugs and smiles were always genuine and filled with so much love and support. I miss you my friend and one day I hope you are waiting to give me that hug and beaming with your best smile to greet me. Till we meet again.

Sending most sincere condolences to Debra’s family. I had the pleasure to get to know your Mom as an OHA volunteer both at the Kanata convention but also during her work on the Photo Competition. She was a fun, organized and talented lady. I know many of us in OHA District 2 were deeply saddened by her passing. I trust that she has left you all with precious memories to hold deep in your heart. Rest easy Debra. You were loved and will be missed!
