Gillian Margaret Carter passed away peacefully, at the age of 73, on Thursday, June 6th 2024 in the Kingston General Hospital. She was the beloved daughter of the late Barney and Peggy Ross and daughter-in-law of the late George and Gwen Carter. Gill is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 50 years, Dan Carter. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Andrea (Nick) and her son Ross (Sarah). She was a wonderful Nana to her loving grandchildren, Evelyn, Graham, Martin and Eddie. Gill was born in Newcastle, England on March 8th, 1951. After moving to Canada as a family five years later, Gill spent her childhood and high school years in Toronto. It was there she met Dan, while working for Eaton’s and were together ever since. They married in 1973 and shortly after having Andrea, Gill and Dan moved to Perth where they raised their family. Following Ross’ birth, Gill took up employment at Crain & Schooley where she worked for over 25 years. Gill enjoyed travelling with Dan, spending time with friends and seeing her grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to honour her life and share memories at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth on Wednesday June 12th, 2024 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Perth & Smith Falls District Hospital Foundation (MRI Campaign) or the Irving Greenberg Cancer Centre, Ottawa would be appreciated.
