Obituary of Rita Bernadette Purcell

RITA BERNADETTE PURCELL

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Rita, after a brief illness in the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Friday July 19, 2024 at the age of 85. Rita was with her two children and their spouses when she took her last breath.

Rita was predeceased by her husband, Ralph and children Joey (Bev) and Angela (Seppie).

She is the devoted mother of Tammy (Bob) Mulrooney and Greg (Angie) Purcell and lovingly known as Nanny to her 9 grandchildren and GiGi to her 10 great grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her siblings, Dan (Mara), Kathy, Charlie (Colleen) and Pat (Gary)and was predeceased by her siblings Mary, Jerry, Don, Frank, Jack, Austin, Joe, Sheila, Maureen and Marg.

Rita will be fondly remembered by her sister-in law Pat and brother-in-law Jerry, as well as her Purcell in-laws, Amanda, Bertha and Donna, numerous nieces and nephews and so many friends.

Friends and Family may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church, 2 George St. S., Smiths Falls on Thursday at 12:00 noon.  Interment will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, Lombardy followed by a reception at the Blair & Son Reception Centre.  In memory of Rita, donations to the Smiths Falls Food Bank or St. John’s Anglican Church would be appreciated.
