My heart grieves the loss of Brent, both a gentle man and a gentleman to his core. He was wise, very kind and considerate - always thinking of others. I loved his laugh, and seeing how the simplest things would make him giggle. I first met him when we were in our late teens working at the Elgin Theatre, and he was wearing a black suit with a bow tie and all the girls swooned. Yet he only had eyes for Sue, and he was completely smitten. An engagement and wedding soon followed, along with a new career in the Canadian military (as an Air Force kid myself, I’ve always been very impressed by his commitment to his country). He was a very proud father and it was wonderful that he became a grandfather to Isla. He was always so positive, so considerate, protective, patient, tender and very loving - I’ve always felt he and Sue were the perfect match. They brought out the best in each other, and I don’t recall either of them ever saying an unkind word about the other. He always had that boyish curiosity and eagerness to know answers, and he had that wry wit that could point out the absurd without being unkind. Cancer really sucks, taking such wonderful people in the prime of their lives when they have so much more living to do. But I like to think he would have been very satisfied with how his life turned out, knowing he had a long marriage of true love, was a good parent to his children, enjoyed a satisfying career. I know he loved his second act - retirement (golf golf golf) and the chance to spend more time with family. A life very well lived. Much love to Sue - thank you for making him so happy

I played many rounds of golf with Brent at the Perth golf course and he was always enjoyable to be around. I appreciated his taste in music - sometimes he brought his tunes to the course. A true gentleman with a sharp wit. I will miss him.
My condolences to his family.

I got to know Brent in the last few years through the Perth Golf Course. A true sports fan in full regard. He always had a great perspective and honesty on the sports story of the day. Also a great appreciation (trivia) for music from the past. A great fellow gone far to soon.
Rest In peace Brent!

I got to know Brent at the Perth Golf Course and over the past few years we played many many rounds together.
Brent was a great guy. Always fun to be with, always in good humor, but competitive in a subtle manner.
I enjoyed getting to know Brent and will sincerely miss our time together on the Links.

Dearest Sue, Megan, Mike, precious Isla, Barry, Bonnie, Beth, Scott, Sean and your loving families.
You are all very much in my thoughts and prayers. Words seem so inadequate to express how saddened I am that Brent has passed when he had so much more living, loving & laughing to share with you. As a family you have already endured more than your share of heartache.
I have such fond memories of Brent when Bob was ill. He would frequently pop in with Sue and discuss sports, golf and share a few laughs, which was always the highlight of the day.
As a very loving family, I hope that in the way you always support each other, it will help you navigate these difficult days ahead.
Warm Hugs to you all

To Sue, Megan, Michael, Family Members & Friends,
The members of the Canadian Forces Supplementary Radio (SUPRAD) System Oldtimers Association were deeply saddened by the news of Brent's passing. During his military service as a member of the Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) community, he made many friends. The memories of the enjoyable times that were shared will be long remembered. Because Brent truly valued his strong bonds of friendship, he became a valued Life Member of our Association. At the entranceway to the Canadian Forces Station Lietrim All Ranks Mess, there is an Oldtimers Association Tree of Life. In memory of Brent, a small bronze cross will now be affixed to the leaf that has his name on it. Also, at our 2025 Annual Reunion - Service of Remembrance, Brent's name will be read during the service. Please know that as members of your extended family, we will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

My deepest sympathy to Sue as well as to all Brent's family and many friends! I'm truly saddened to hear of his passing at such a young age! Brent and I were close friends and colleagues through several postings and enjoyed many fun sporting events together, particularly in Leitrim in the mid-80's. Brent will always be remembered for his easy laugh and quick humour! A great guy and proud serviceman. Rest easy soldier, your watch is done!

My sincere condolences to Brent's family. A gentleman who always had time to discuss any topic. A little more information - I coached Brent's brother. Scott and Sean in Minor Football in 1981 and 82 here in Ottawa,.fine young men, at that time, who never complained whatever the task given to them. Brent was on the CFS Leitrim Fastball who were the first and only Station to represent Ontario at the CF Nationals in 1984. An excllent ball player for sure - always smiling regardless of the outcome of our games. If I may - an old Scottish saying - 'Death is a Heartache no one can heal, Love is a Memory no one can steal'
