Hutchings, Thomas Kenneth “Ken”

October 26, 1949 -  September 23, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ken Hutchings on September 23rd, 2024, in his 75th year surrounded by his loving family at the Perth site of the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital.

Ken was the beloved husband of Kathleen (nee McParland) for 53 years and the proud and loving father of Christina Sullivan (Tom), Angela Hutchings, Marty Hutchings (Lindsay) and Randy Hutchings (Jeni-Lynn). He was the cherished papa to his grandchildren Riley, Ellen, Delaney, Garret, Charlise and Cash.

He will be reunited with his parents, Fred & Mary (nee Miller). He is survived by his siblings Patsy McVeigh (the late Stanley), Marlene Couch (Ron), Joe (Marlene).  He is predeceased by his siblings Don (Ann-surviving) and June Kerfoot (Arnie).

Ken will be lovingly remembered by his many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews in the Hutchings and McParland families.

Ken had many musical talents which included playing the fiddle, guitar and banjo and enjoyed playing for family, friends, neighbours and events at local halls.  He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed being at his cabin with family and friends.

His family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff on the second floor of the Perth hospital.  The compassion and care shown were beyond words in his final days.  Special thanks to Dr. Shawn Liu, Perth, Dr. Sanfillippo at Kingston General Hospital and Dr. Fam at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto.

A private interment with immediate family will take place at a later date.  Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Ken at the BVM Stanleyville Hall located at 844 Stanley Road, Perth, on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM where we encourage you to share any stories and memories you may have of Ken.  Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Home, Perth.

In remembrance of Ken, donations to the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital and our local BBDE Fire Department would be greatly appreciated.
