I am old now, but I remember as though it was yesterday when Glen and Evie came into my family’s life. My father was an avid horseman. In our home it was ponies and horses twenty four seven. At the time my father had imported Welsh Mountain ponies from Wales and was developing a small herd.Glen became the person who cared for them. He turned out to be an excellent caretaker.
When John Diefenbaker presented my brother with the red ribbon in his driving class at Lombardy Fair. Glen was there at Collwyn’s head. John Diefenbaker shook his hand and spoke with him. Glen was thrilled.
When I drove my pony at the Ottawa Winter Fair, Glen and Evie’s wee daughter Carol Ann rode with me in our governess cart. What a courageous little tyke she was!
When my parents went on vacation Glen and Evie became our surrogate parents . WE HAD THE BEST TIME! They taught us how to make french fries from scratch! We thought that was pretty awesome!
On my wedding day, Glen was the footman on the horse drawn carriage that took my dad and I to the church.
It is impossible for me to think of Glen and not Evie or Evie and not Glen. They were a dynamic duo whose goodness enriched my young life in so many ways.

May I extend my sincere sympathies to Glen's family for your loss.. Although I was younger than Glen I remember him stopping by occasionally to visit his uncle Herman and aunt Georgie. What I remember most about Glen, is his smile. That I have no problem remembering, the image is vivid and so easy to recall.

Glen was such a wonderful neighbour when my son Nick and I lived on Thom Street. He was so kind and helpful, and always had a story or laugh to share. We loved walking down to see his dog and have a little visit. He was one of a kind, a gentle caring soul. My sympathy to the family, he sure will be missed.

Saddened to learn of Glen's passing. That corner of the street will never be the same without him and his dogs. I was fortunate enough over the years through our little chats to be given garden and workshop tours. He even came to my workshop to give me some woodturning guidance. Such a generous soul! Condolences to his family.
