Obituary of Patricia Anne Mary Bjorgan (nee McGuire)
Passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on November 21, 2024, at the Peterborough Hospice. Born and raised in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Patricia and her husband Dale, acquired the McGuire family homestead, which became a frequent gathering place - a tradition that Patricia deeply valued. She also cherished spending time with family at their cottage on nearby Otty Lake.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Patricia’s warmth, kindness, and vibrant charisma drew people to her. She always put her family first, and her loving presence and support helped many through difficult times.
Patricia was very proud of her time as principal at Duncan J. Schoular Public School, where she made a lasting impact on students, staff, and the entire school community. She and Dale shared a love of travel, exploring many countries and cultures together, starting with a memorable summer in Europe following their wedding.
Patricia was also deeply involved in her community, volunteering with numerous organizations and building lasting friendships in her summer community of Port 32 in Bobcaygeon and her winter home in Wildewood Springs, Bradenton, Florida.
She leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 55 years, Dale; children Kristofer and Laura (Andrew Chard); and grandchildren Katrina Bjorgan, and Benjamin and Maxwell Chard. Patricia is also survived by her sisters Fran Hitchins, Cecelia (John Kalbfleisch), and Teresa (Bob Linton), her brother-in-law Frank Eggins, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Patricia (Connolley) and Thomas McGuire; sisters Catharine Manson and Elizabeth; and brothers-in-law Larry Manson and Jay Hitchins.
Patricia’s legacy of love, kindness, and the lasting difference she made in many lives will continue to inspire all who knew her.
